What people say about Lydia McCauley's music:

"I wouldn't have missed this for anything. The words were just as good as the music." - Madeleine L'Engle, Newberry Award Winning Author of WRINKLE IN TIME.

"A provocative blend of mysticism, intelligence and beauty" - Connie Dover, Taylor Park Music

"Sophisticated folk, refreshing, with good energy" - Dan Maher, Inland Folk, NPR

"Incredible! I have listened to ForeignLander and The Beauty of the Earth, and they are two of the best albums that I have heard in a long time! I get dozens of cds a week and its been a long time since I've been this excited about anything that's come in. If Lydia McCauley were performing during the early 60's folk scene, her name would be synonymous with Judy Collins, Joan Baez and Mary Travers. Today, place her recordings on the same shelf alongside those plus Karen Matheson, Maire (Moya) Brennan, Mary Black, Loreena McKennitt, Maddy Prior, Enya, Annie Haslam, Jacqui McShee, Sandy Denny .... She simply is that good. There's just no big record label or similar promotional mechanism making that fact known to the world - yet." -Scott Ericson, Music Sojourn/Radio365.com

"McCauley composes and produces new age music without indulging in New Age cliches." - Bill Compton, Victory Music

"Deep passion. Superb!" -Dr. Nina Simone Society

Born in Seattle and raised in the southeastern United States, Lydia grew up studying classical and contemporary music as a child. Later she lived in the Appalachian mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky and was introduced to Traditional music. She studied and documented Appalachian music at Berea College. She now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and co-producer Kurt Scherer. The two enjoy working together and travelling the world as much as possible. They have recently established a humanitarian venture, THE RED PARASOL PROJECT which helps support young women in Southeast Asia.
